Symposium – UQAM’s Departement of Psychology 2026 Research Day

The Chair was well represented at the annual Research Day of UQAM’s Department of Psychology, which took place on Wednesday, March 25.

This year, the Department chose “Life Transitions” as the theme of the day. Fully aligned with the Chair’s areas of focus, this theme offered an excellent opportunity to showcase the Chair’s expertise and highlight its ongoing work. 💡

As part of a symposium titled “Promoting Well-being During School and Post-School Transitions: An Overview of the Chair’s Work,” we were pleased to welcome four members of the Chair for presentations that were both engaging and insightful :

  • Isabelle Plante, professor in the Department of Didactics, UQAM
  • Thérèse Bouffard, professor in the Department of Psychology, UQAM
  • Laetitia Gendron, doctoral candidate in psychology, UQAM
  • Charles-Étienne White-Gosselin, postdoctoral researcher, CHUM Research Center

👏🏻 We would also like to acknowledge the presence of Véronique Dupéré, Professor at the Université de Montréal and a research member of the Chair, whose contribution as a main guest speaker brought remarkable insight and momentum to the day. In a compelling one‑hour lecture, Professor Dupéré explored key challenges surrounding the transition to adulthood and shared findings from her team’s ongoing research.

We would like to thank the organizing committee for this wonderful day and extend our congratulations to all presenters.💫

Thematic Day on the CEGEP-to-University Transition

On Friday, December 5, the Chair had the pleasure of organizing a day of discussions around a crucial issue: how to better support student success and well-being during the transition from CEGEP to university.🎓

This event brought together around forty participants, including professionals working in postsecondary education, researchers, and students passionate about the topic.

Program:

💬In the morning, participants attended presentations highlighting the key factors that contribute to a successful transition from CEGEP to university:

‣ Presentation of the project “ReTraCe: Tracing Adaptation Profiles to Better Support the Transition from CEGEP to University” by Professor Marie-Hélène Véronneau

‣ Conference on Self-Determination Theory by Professor Elizabeth Olivier

‣ Conference on the project “Successful Transitions to Higher Education: An Inter-level Challenge” by Professor Anastassis Kozanitis

In the afternoon, a panel discussion and guided conversations showcased the expertise developed in the field by those who directly support students throughout their transitions to higher education. We extend our sincere thanks to our panelists for their valuable contributions:

‣ Zélie Roy, undergraduate student in psychology, UQAM

‣ France Landry, psychologist, Student Services, UQAM

‣ Valérie Bellemare-Roger, carreers counsellor, Cégep Marie-Victorin

This day helped foster knowledge mobilization and identify concrete strategies to better equip those who support students through this pivotal stage of their academic journey.📚

Abstract

Extensive research supports the efficacy of evidence-based family-centered parenting interventions in promoting a range of positive parent, child, and family outcomes, and the scale-up of these interventions has the potential for a significant public health impact. However, translating these programs from the research context to routine community practice has been challenging for a myriad of reasons. In the current presentation, I will discuss the trajectory of the Family Check-Up model, an evidence-based family-centered parenting intervention, from program development to current implementation and dissemination efforts, and review barriers and facilitators that have influenced the model’s translation from research to community practice.

Biography

Anne Marie Mauricio has 20 years of experience collaborating with communities to develop, implement, and evaluate culturally responsive, family-centered, evidence-based interventions, and she has been PI or Co-I on several federally funded grants focused on implementation and evaluation of evidence-based interventions. Much of this research has focused on the Family Check-Up (FCU). Anne Marie is a FCU certified trainer and consultant, and she has trained 100s of clinicians in the FCU model across the United States and internationally. She also works closely with the model purveyor to scale-up the FCU across the U.S. and internationally.  Broadly, Anne Marie’s research and practice interests focus on the translation of evidence-based interventions for sustainable delivery in community practice settings. Anne Marie is also a licensed psychologist with extensive experience working with children and families in community settings.
